What is there to do inKarlsruhe and Baden Baden?Taking my mum as a suprisetrip?
I'm taking my mum here as a suprise trip and i'm not sure what there is to do- i've heard about the spa's here. Does anyone know costs for them? Any other attractions to see/do? We have 2 nights to spend- is it better to spend one night in baden baden and one in karlsruhe or just stay at one location. Any advice would be great :)
Baden-Baden is good for gambling (casinos) and sight-seeing (nice city). Karlsruhe is bigger and has a lot to offer (a big castle, nice zoo, German supreme court). You can stay at the same hotel for both nights, there's a good public transport system (something like a Tram) from Baden-Baden to Karlsruhe.
I am going to Karlsruhe,Germany for work I have 1 dayto spare and I want to go seeswitzerland country side.
I like to hike little bit and see mountians. Is there any place in north switzerland I can go? Karlsruhe is north of switzerland about 2.5 hour train ride. I need to come back to Karlsruhe same day.
Sorry but too short to enjoy the Swiss Mountains in a day. Even though Switzerland is quite small but you only make it to border towns like Schaffhausen (near the lovely Rhine-Fall)s maybe Basel or Zürich but not up the great mountains!
What can you recommend to seein Germany? We will start inKarlsruhe and end in Munich.?
We like the country side and do not want to visit large cities, and would like to visit some castles, and maybe the Bodemsee. We have about 15 days, and will be travelling by car. This will be during September. Any suggestions?
In Karlsruhe is a very nice castle, right in the center. from Karlsruhe you go north and take a cruise on the river Rhein (go to Bingen) and along the Rhein (Rhine) valley are a lot of castles. go back south of Karsluhe, you heading towards the Bodensee, there is the "Black-Forest", you know: Kukuksuhr!! visit some very nice country sides there, its beautiful. Heading to the Bodensee, visit the island Mainau, its wonderful (the flower island). a lot of very nice little villages along the Bodensee. Go from there to visit the castle of...look at the link below... and now you travel to the area of Füssen. Here you find the fairytale castle of Ludwig II of Bayern (Bavaria) Neuschwanstein and also Hohenschwangau. From here you got to go little north to see the amazing village of Rothenburg o.d.Tauber. This village was never destroyed or rebuilt and still looks like some 500 years ago. next stop is Coburg, visit the Ehrenburg, than go to Nürnberg, wonderful old city with a castle. Now south to Munich and further to Garmisch, close by you find the most beatiful castle you ever see in your life. Schloss Linderhof. (link below). Forget about any castle you have seen so far. This is it!! If you havn't seen it all I suggest to go to the Chiemsee, little south of Munich. Wonderful place and again a wonderful castle on the island in the middle of the lake. now back to Munich and relax from all the nice things you discovered over the past 15 days. the first link is in german but very easy to understand, got a map and a list of all castles in germany but of your interest is Bayern and Baden Würtemberg. regards Bernd
