How does the Japanese writingsystem "Kanji" work?
From what I have researched, there are many, and I emphasize, many ways to say each kanji, but how do even THEY know how to say it? I would really enjoy learning their writing system, and already know Hiragana and Katakana, but can I get a little explanation of Kanji?
You are correct that each kanji has at least two or more completely different readings. All of these readings need to be learned, just like the kanji themselves. Not everyone knows all the readings of all the kanji. There are many proper names written in kanji that are pronounced one way in some cases and another way in others. Wikipedia has a fairly thorough explanation of it all: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K anji
Can somebody explain to me howthe Japanese writing systemworks? ?
I had no idea there were different ways to write things. Hiranga, Kanata, Kanji Which one does majority of Japanese people use? Or is it like some mixture of both? Ah so confusing lol! Thanks lol Oh man, I hope they don't use Kanji that much That sounds really hard to learn o___o
I'm Japanese. We mix Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji. we usually don't use space between word and word. so if I write sentences with only Hiragana, it's little bit hard to read. so we use Kanji, then we can separate the words. わたしはにほんにすん でいます。 私は日本に住んでいま す (私, 日本, 住 is Kanji) and we use katakana for thing, or name from foreign countries. example TV is terebi in Japanese, and terebi is come from television. so we use Katakana. テレビ Obama is not Japanese. so we use Katakana. オバマ If it's hard for you to remember Kanji, you can use only Hiragana, but you need to put space, then we can understand easily.
Which Japanese writingsystem(s) should I learn?
I've been teaching myself Japanese lately, but all the Japanese-English translations use the Romanized alphabet that uses Latin letters. Recently, I heard of the kanji and kana alphabet as well, which uses actual Japanese characters. I'd like to teach myself how to read and write proper Japanese, as well. But I'm not sure which one I should go with. What's the most common Japanese writing and reading system?
Hello! Actually, you need learning the 3 different kind of japanese writing Kanji (漢字) They are like little pictures, they are from China but the japanese culture get it, because his language is really short. Hiragana (ひらがな) It's the first alphabet that they learn, because you can say that it's the principal Katakana (カタカナ) this kind of writing is used in foreign languages specially in english because they took words of this one, you can write names but not japanese names. All the writing are very importants 'cause they help to understand all, BTW the romanji just help us to learn and read the japanese language. Have a nice day and hope this help you ♪♫►
