She should have her kittens around March 30th....give or take a day or 2. Pregnancies usually last 63 days (9 wks) +/- a day or two.....So...in the meantime, be feeding her as much KITTEN food as she'll eat. She needs the extra nutrition that the KITTEN food provides. About a week before she's "due"....start setting up some beds ("nests"), made out of boxes, lined with towels, newspapers, etc, in different quiet (out of traffic flow) places in your house. She may try out each one, and still decide to have them somewhere else...under your bed, in the closet, clothes basket, etc. When she decides where she's having them, let her be. After she's completely finished, and you don't like the spot she chose (inappropriate), THEN you can take her and her babies and put them in one of the "out of the way" places. Just make sure that it's a warm, dry place and she doesn't feel threatened by anything. She may move them again, but you can talk to her, make her comfortable...put her food and water NEARBY (so she doesn't have to go far from her babies) and she should "stay put". By providing the extra nutrition that she needs for these babies and herself, she should be a healthy mom. KEEP FEEDING HER THE KITTEN FORMULA until she weans her kittens! She needs it for milk production! The number of kittens she has, depends on how many times she mated. One kitten (usually) per mating. Her kittens could also have "different daddies", if more than one tom "got" her! After this, get her spayed when the kittens are weaned. A spayed cat will live a longer, HEALTHIER life......not as susceptable to cancer as their "unaltered sisters". Hope this helps you.....Good luck with your new "family" and ENJOY................. |
