at 3-4000 miles. Also would
the gear ratio be the same
from a 94 isuzu trooper 4 by 4
with a 3.2 L engine as a 89
isuzu trooper 4 by 4 with a
2.8 L both manual trans 5
speeds.

Why does my 1995 Isuzu Rodeo I have a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo, V6
automatic transmission, 3.2L
2WD.
It will tick for long periods
of time and then go away for
about 20 to 30 minutes then
start up again.
I have changed the oil and the
fluids are tapped off.

lifters maybe, but a good oil additive can fix that. the 3.2 rodeo and the 3.5 trooper have 2 very common and bad problems with them. both create the noise that you think or discribe as a ticking. it is known to most mechanics to be a very occuring theme with the rodeo and trooper. the timing belt tensioner makes the same noise you speak of, and most of the time under 2500 rpm. and the next thing is that they have a very bad rod to stroke ratio. in a very low amount of miles develope a piston slap (ticking noise) which is where the piston skirts starts to get lose from side load at the bottom of the stroke, and slaps up against the cylinder wall. sorry to be so blunt but the rodeo and trooper motors are junk. i have accually started to refuse to work on them because they are such a POS. |

Isuzu plans to stop selling in Also, will getting the parts
for my Isuzu Rodeo be more
expensive?
It's too bad Isuzu sales have
been dropping for more than a
decade, they are a very
reliable vehicle. I still see
many of the older Rodeo's out
driving today so they are a
good manufacturer. I
I just found out Isuzu will
continue to provide support
and parts.
My Isuzu Rodeo gets 20 mpg on
the highway and in the city.

No, don't sell your Isuzu unless you are really drawn out on gas money. I have a 95 Rodeo too with 150,400 miles, and it runs great for the most part. Isuzu's seem to be very reliable and well-designed, and http://www.utahparts.com/ISPRI CING.htm is a great place to get any factory part for the car. If you don't know the part number, you can always email the guy and he'll help you find the right one. |
