If I remember the notes I took a year ago correctly, the Inquisition was created to find and persecute those who oppose either the government or the church. I think it has strengthened their alliance rather than the separation that many people insist upon. Evidence: State won't pass laws which are considered immoral or unlawful by the Church. |

It was banned by the Inquisition because it was deemed to be anti-clerical. Any books that portrayed the Church in a negative way or seen as challenging It's authority were deemed to be works of the devil and as such, they were banned. |
