Why do some Christians equateidolatry with being a fan of acelebrity?
I've heard some people say that idolatry doesn't necessarily have to mean worshipping an idol, that it can also relate to activities like television, sports, video games, etc. I am having a hard time comprehending this. Surely no one is praying to a TV set.
They say the same things about Buddha, who was merely a teacher and never declared himself a God. Some of them think the mere act of kissing or being attracted to someone is "lust". Gimme a break already! It goes to show you how fundamentalism is more harmful than helpful, how it impedes living life and being a human being, and just overall how it can easily change someone. It makes me roll my eyes anymore.

It seems to me that a country with such diverse religions would want to avoid doing anything divisive with their governmental policy. Is it really fair of them to expect adherents of faiths which oppose idolatry to venerate the flag?

When the symbols of patriotism is introduced into religious worship, is not that congregation indulging in idolatry? Lately there's been too much congruence between Church and State. The Constitution guarantees separation and we should adhere to it.
