...An ideology is a set of aims and ideas that directs one's goals, expectations, and actions. An ideology can be thought of as a comprehensive vision, as a way of looking at things (compare worldview), as in common sense (see Ideology in everyday society below) and several philosophical tendencies (see Political ideologies), or a set of ideas proposed by the dominant class of a society to all members of this society (a 'received consciousness' or product of socialization). The main purpose behind an ideology is to offer change in society, and adherence to a set of ideals where conformity already exists, through a normative thought process. Ideologies are systems of abstract thought (as opposed to mere ideation) applied to public matters and thus make this concept central to politics. Implicitly every political tendency entails an ideology whether or not it is propounded as an explicit system of thought. Read full entry

streets of St.Paul, burning
things, damaging cars, and
attacking 80 year old men
simply because of their

Or, spewing nasty lies about

revolutions of 1900s were between royalists and nationalists - communists weren't involved for another 30 years yet anyway, if the principles of marxism were applied the switchover would've been more peaceful and not left china crippled and weak, ripe for invasion by japan |

What then constitutes challenging questioning or enquiry…? Example Atheism, greatly prevalent in this forum, and one I strive to understand bases its entire premise upon the non existence of God, creator and Almighty Father. Demand for proof and the ensuing fragmentation and falling apart of the hitherto faithful, does not in any way augment the validity of Atheism. It does however destroy a belief system based on the search for a quantum truth and endeavour to train the mind of man to think reasonably, place faith in the triumph of good in adversity and to lead a moral life with purpose and compassion. Whether the ideology is communism, dictatorships, democracy questioning arises only in light of maladministration and incompetence of the mentioned disciplines by inept administrators rather than any inherent flaws in the actual ideology. The ideology grows if it steadfastly refuses to pander to critics who in the absence of grasp or understanding offer uninformed comment. The ideology fails if its practitioners blindly charter a course giving no thought to modifications in course. |
