I know they are used in the lift for when they attach the wings, but I'm asking because I'm doing a report on how hydraulics have changed the manufacturing of aircraft. If you could help it would be greatly appreciated.
The machines and presses that make the metal stampings are usually hydraulic because they can put out tons of pressure for bending and molding things. It used to be that the aluminum would be hand pounded and English Wheeled to make panel shapes needed. This would lead to inconsistent tolerances.
