Questions/Answers
I have a outsidehutch(cage)and its for smallanimals and i was wondering ifit would be okay for guineapigs?
If i took them inside when it was cold..i have an inside cage too but its getting too small for them..and i dont know maybe in the summer if i put a fan outside or take them in..just wondering so no rude answers plz?!
I have two guinea pigs that I have owned for a couple of years now and they live outside. I have kept them outside since they were babies and have never had any problems. When it does get cold I put hay or straw in their cage and cover the cage with a blanket to keep drafts out. (Their cage is in the unheated rabbit barn). Make sure that your cage has a solid bottom if you do decide to put them outside, because guinea pigs can get their feet caught in wire bottom cages. If you decide to put them outside I would not take them out until spring because if you have them in your warm house and then take them outside where it is cold they could get too stressed and die. One advantage to having guinea pigs inside is that I think they are easier to tame and become more used to humans, mine are not as tame as I would like them! Good Luck!

YESS!!! I have chinchilla, and i have learned that they like to jump, and like levels. That cage should be perfect for two chinchillaas. I have only one, but they are social, so haveing two is perfectly fine!!! Good luck with your cage!!!
Bantam Chick Questions?
I have two bantam chicks I bough, would like the guess there aproximate age... they are from the same clutch (and silly me didnt ask when they were hatched) But one is starting to feather on its wings, and the rest is fuzzy, and the other is fuzzy. Also, I do not have a brooder. I have a modified animal hutch/cage with news paper and a bit of straw on the bottom, and the tempeture is about 80 degree's. I try but I cant get it to the 90 degree's some places say. My chicks are in a small container inside there home with some food and some dish clothes for extra warmth plus the lamp. Will my chicks be okay? I put these small guys in a container that is about 6in X 6in to keep them warm during the night. I cannot run the lamp all night (these guys are in my bedroom till they get bigger) Is it okay to leave them like that durring the night? or do they need to eat every hour or so? same with water?
If the wings are feathering up, they're probably a week or two old. At this age, eighty degrees is fine. Most of the answers are quite correct that huddled birds are cold. Also, cold chicks peep ALOT. In nature they'd peep and mom would come running to warm them up. So, listen for a constant peeping (they'll also peep for water and for food every so often, but cold peeping is Constant). You also need to think the other way as well. If your birds are lethargic and don't do much they might be too warm. The temperature needs to be lowered as they grow, and watching their behavior will tell you when to lower the temp. Best of luck (They are SO cute, aren't they??? Like little yellow dust bunnies). Edit: they should have food and water in their box at all times. That way if they wake up with a rumbly belly they eat and go back to sleep. If they sleep at night without peeping, they're ok without the light. Believe me, if they get cold, you're not getting any sleep. Awfully loud for such little critters, aren't they?
