"Hello Dolly" Musical question I am auditioning for a role in
Hello Dolly for out local
theatre company and because I
haven't seen it yet was
wondering what accent the
characters have. I know it is
set in America (I'm Australian
btw) and was wondering if it
was a southern accent or just
regular from the other places
around the country.

I don't remember the exact location, but a southern accent is fine...my mom was Mrs. Malloy in the same musical. And she has a southern accent. They'll look at your skills on acting, not necessarily how southern you sound. |

Any audition songs for kids I'm a kid (10) and I want to
try out for "Hello Dolly". The
problem is.............. I
don't have a song! Could you

Try doing songs that fit either musically or thematically with the part you want. A kid for Hello Dolly will most likely sing the chorus parts and so on (like "Put on Your Sunday Clothes" and "Hello Dolly"). Maybe sing something from The Music Man: "Seventy Six Trombones" or "Wellsfargo Wagon" - those fit musically and thematically Or you could sing more kid-related songs like "Goodnight My Someone" - sang by the girl in Music Man (although thats more of a ballad) or "Castle on a Cloud" from Les Mis, also a ballad Find out what they want - upbeat or ballad? You could sing something from The Secret Garden: "The Girl I Mean to Be" or Oklahoma: "Out of My Dreams" |
