How much to demolish a house I'm not even sure of companies
that exist that do these types
of things. But lets say I
bought an 8 acre lot, and the
100 year old house on it
needed to go. How much would
it cost to knock down a 4
bedroom house, and how much
does it cost to haul and dump
that much material. Also, is
it possible for the county to
refuse permit to allow such a
thing?

Personally people pay top dollar for that old wood off of older homes..I used to demolish them for free and had a buyer of the old wood, hardware, doors, beams etcetera and it was very high dollar...I would post an ad in craigs list..which I will give you the link to sign up for a free account..then post it under "building materials"..and title it..FREE WOOD...You will get alot of hits on this and get it torn down for free..make sure to have a written contract with the person/people that they must haul off all debris from the house in exchange for the free wood..As far as a permit..well it sounds as though you may be outisde the city limits and possibly no permit at all is needed...I know here in the country there is no needed permit to demolish old structures..but of course I would check to make sure where you are...In Salado Texas where I sold my goodies off of old houses..they reused the wood and built whole new houses from it, but in an antique way..they also built chink and peg houses out of alot of the beams..On the contraxct you draw up make sure to state that if they do not clean the lot (as we had to do) after demolishion..that they will be liable for the cost to remove any left debris....if you get no hits on craigs list for this..then you can apply for a controlled burn..and have the fire department present when you burn the house down....They will charge A small fee for thier time and a couple of trucks on the job...but no where near what yuou would pay to have a demolition person do it..heres the craigs list link..I just betyou get hits from the ad the first or second daY it is posted https://accounts.craigslist.or g/login/signup |

How many dumpsters do I need I have 14 sections of 8'X8'
concrete 4" thick, how many 10
yard dumpsters will I need to
haul this away?
|
|

A cubic yard is 27 cubic feet...3' X 3' X 3' Multiply out your sections 8' X 8' X 1/3' = 21 cubic feet roughly X 14 = 294 cubic feet ...divided by 27 CF per yard = @11-12 cubic yards so go with one dumpster with a little overflow or two to be safe. |

How safe is a long haul I'm an experienced flyer,
having flown over 100 times,
including a lot of long haul
flights but I've suddnely
developed a morbid fear of
flying, which sucks because
I'm in Brazil at the moment
with my daughter and due to
fly home to the UK next week!
I'm flying with alitalia but
am so scared because almost
all the flight is over water
and it takes 12 hours and
there was bad turbulance on
the way here, how safe is this
stretch of water and are long
haul flights quite safe? Can a
plane crash from turbulance?
Oh, and where is the safest
place to sit on a plane, the
middle right?

the most dangerous part of flying is takeoff and landing, you have less chance to crash than driving a car so relax, |
