Questions/Answers
What's the legacy of ancientGermanic tribes to thecontemporary world?
What did they offered to western societies? I have read somewhere that they formed the basis of our corporate unions, but I did not understand it well. P.S. I mean the Germanic tribes who fought against Roman Empire and later who occupied it. And something about our moral beliefs or laws I am comfused!
The concept of Common Law comes from the Germanic Tribes. Also, our court system is based on their law. In order for a man to be found innocent of a crime he needed to find 12 people to stand for him. This lead to the idea of a jury of our peers made up of 12 people. The days of our week are from the Germanic tribes. Tuesday is Tyr's day Wednesday is Woden's day (Woden is another name for the god Odin) Thursday is Thor's day and Friday is Frey's day. These are just 2 simple examples of how the Germanic tribes influenced western civilization. To be honest you could write a book on your question.

what are the 3 germanic tribes that invaded ancient england around 449 AD??? what were the two division of the early english people?? pls.... i nid the answer pls.... help me
The two main divisions of the early Britons would probably be the Romano-British (those descended from the Roman occupants and the native British who adopted Roman ways) and the true 'native' British, who we'll call the 'Welsh' because they moved westwards (to the area of modern Wales, Cornwall, and south west Scotalnd) as the Germanic tribes invaded (and Wales was more or less named after them). The main Germanic invaders were the Jutes, Angles and Saxons. England was named after the Angles (Angle-land).
