What is the difference betweenthe soul of a Jew and aGentile?
And does conversion from Gentile to Jew really change the structure of the soul? Serious responses of a spiritual nature only, please.
There is no difference in the souls at all. There is a statement in Kabbalistic sources that there are two sides from which souls come- the side of purity and the side of impurity. All jewish souls come from the side of puriity- as do most noon-Jewish souls. However, there are a few souls that come from the other side which are generally linked to those seen as being the most evil, idolatrous etc individuals. However, even in that side a soul coming from the 'wrong side" can change itself through righteous actions into a pure one- thus the commentary ends that all souls are pure- merely that some have become impure through actions in this world and just need a chance to repent and return to purity. edit: Elizabeth's answer couldn't be more wrong! Of course non-Jews can convert to Judasim. And, "Messianic Jews" are NOT Jews, nut a Christian sect that uses deceit, lies and misinformation to try and trick uneducated Jews into converting to Christianity. EVERY Jewish denomination rejects them as merely a Christian missionary movement- and many Christian groups denounce them for their dishonest and fraudulent tactics used in trying to convert Jews
My Gentile boss is going to anOrthodox Jewish wedding, andshe needs etiquette tips.?
Actually, she says that the family is between Orthodox and Chasidic--whatever that means. As a woman and a Gentile, is there anything she should keep in mind?
Firstly, tell her to relax and enjoy it - Jewish weddings are usually really lively and great fun! Your boss needs to know that for the Synagogue service, she needs to wear a dress or skirt to her knees or below; a blouse or top that covers her shoulders and arms; she should *not* wear bare legs, but dark tights, and shoes (not trainers). Warn her that men and women will be sitting separately in the Synagogue - if it's a very Orthodox wedding, men and women may dance separately etc also. Other than that, she'll find the normal range of emotions that one finds at any wedding - but there will be far less alcohol, and perhaps more food...! :) Very nice indeed of YOU to ask for this guidance for your boss. You're a 'mentsch' (literally a 'person', means someone honourable and decent, big compliment)
Who was the first Gentileconvert to Christianity ?
Jesus had only Jewish apostles and followers.Early Christians were all Jews. Romans hated the Christians as much as they hated the Jews.It was Constantine the Great Roman Emperor who converted to Christianity and made it the state religion of Roman Empire.Only after that mass conversion of Gentile to Christianity occurred.....Was Constantine the first Gentile Christian ? Or is there any person mentioned in the New Testament ?
Cornelius. Acts 10:22-23 Says, "The men replied, "We have come from Cornelius the centurion. He is a righteous and God-fearing man, who is respected by all the Jewish people. A holy angel told him to have you come to his house so that he could hear what you have to say." Then Peter invited the men into the house to be his guests." After Peter had met with Cornelius this is what took place. It goes on to say in verse 27-28 of Acts, "Talking with him, Peter went inside and found a large gathering of people. He said to them: "You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with a Gentile or visit him. But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean." In verse 34, Peter is witnessing to them when he says, "Then Peter began to speak: I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right." Peter gave a witness about who Jesus is to these people and they accepted the witness of Peter! Peter baptized them. The whole account is awesome! Read it for yourself in the book of Acts! Peace! Awesome answer Dewcoons!
