Check out articles on the Jordan River, the Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee. There is a NASA photo of the entire rift under the Jordan River entry at Wikipedia. On Yahoo check out the Mekorot Water Company. Water information from research to forecasts issue here. Still, many articles I have seen on the Web are not all that current. You might find something from the CIA site on Israel and others. Check national library sources and articles on water supply and demand for Jordan and Syria. Don't overlook stress in all rift areas. People in extreme conflict and stress produce more not fewer children. The entire rift has been under stress for years. The Sea of Galilee was down 13 feet in the early 90s. There are changes taking place all the time with demand, pollution, technology and weather. Fifty years? All depends. I would like to know the source of the article you saw, but did not find it. This one was in January 22 2009 http://www.israeltoday.co.il/d efault.aspx?tabid=178&nid=1806 7 I found a lot from last summer, but that is the only one that is most current. None of the websites said when they would think it would dry. Some of the old updates said that they would import water. All I know is on the 22 of January it was 16 inches above the black line... Since there hasn't been any more news about it, perhaps that is a good thing. |
