If the epistle of Peter saysthe promise is we are waitingfor a New Heaven and NewEarth?
The home of Righteousness, why are people waiting for 1000 years reign on this earth.
good question. They have understood some promises (mostly in Zechariah and Ezekiel) to be 'unconditional', so they MUST be fulfilled, while actually they were promises of what would happen if the nation of "Israel" was true to YHVH, and obedient to His rules. (which clearly they were not.)

Your taking things out of context: Peter was instructing them to grow in Knowledge faith kindness love, etc. 2 Peter 1:1-10. "Faith without words is dead", James 2:17,18.
What is this" Vain manner oflife" that our brother Peterrefers to in his firstepistle?
1 Pet 1:18-19 " Knowing that it was not with corruptible things with silver or gold, that you were redeemed from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers, but with the precious blood of a Lamb without blemish and without spot, the Blood of Christ" We have been redeemed from our vain manner of life that was handed ddown from our fathers. Is this continual? Even after believing into the Lord and being redeemed by His Blood, does the Lord have to continue to work on us in this matter as believers? What do you believe is a vain manner of life and how does this verse speak to you TODAY as a believer. Ty for taking the time to look into this post In Christ sandy TY so much brother Acts. I really appreciate your insight and application of this verse. Particularly regarding the vain things that can be so subtle, even when we gather as the church, that can distract us from our worship in spirit and truthfulness to the Father. Praise the Lord for all that is available through the joint of the rich supply and the operation of the measure of each one part in the Body of Christ. I hope many can read and gain from what you shared today with us:) Your sis sandy
The word “vain,” applied to conduct, means properly “empty, fruitless.” It is a word often applied to the worship of idols, as being nothing, worthless, unable to help, and is probably used in a similar sense in this place. The apostle refers to their former worship of idols, and to all the abominations connected with that service, as being vain and unprofitable; as the worship of nothing real (compare 1Corinthians 8:4, 'We know that an idol is nothing in the world’), and as resulting in a course of life that answered none of the proper ends of living. From that they had been redeemed by the blood of Christ. Is this continual? Yes it is. There are so many idols that we are unaware they are idols. Idol worship in it's loosest definition is "anything that takes priority over worship of God." This can mean; a religious tradition, a TV show, a football game, a golf game, etc, anything that takes away the worship of the Heavenly Father. Even within churches, there are idols, and people are unaware of it. Try taking down a picture or a plaque and either moving it to a different location or removing it all together. There can become an uproar. Remove hymnals, change the style of music, remove pews and go to chairs or vice versa, remove chairs and put in pews. There are so many things that detract from the worship of the Father, that we forget what we are actually saved through, we are saved through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and all other things (traditions, songs, etc) may help enhance our relationship with him, they are not to take the place of the worship of him.
