I have googled it every way I know how, and can't find any accounts of black peoples' experiences in feudal Japan; except for a debated description of the shogun Sakanoue no Tamuramaro. He may or may not have been a very dark Japanese man. What I hope to learn about are any foreign black individuals in Japan, during the years before and up to the Meiji Era.
Japan, being a seafaring nation, would have been aware of Black people, primarily aboriginal people from what became the indonesian archipelago and the Philippines. It was not uncommon for Japanese pirates to capture native men and women and sell them off as slaves and concubines, it is plausible that Japanese of mixed race would have existed in that era.
