Questions/Answers
I need an answer from someonefrom Estonia or who hasvisited.Do people use Englishcommonly in Estonia? Ty?
I need some info from someone from Estonia or who has visited, I am planning on visiting in summer 2009, I was just wondering if the people of Estonia speak English commonly, or i would need to absolutely learn the Language Thanks!
If you only plan on visiting Tallinn and/or Tartu, you should be able to get by without learning Estonian, which is a very difficult language. Many people in Estonia speak English, especially in the aforementioned cities. Young people are more likely to speak English than older people who will probably speak Russian better (as a second language) than English. I do think you should make the effort of learning some commonly used words and phrases as you would when visiting any other country as this- in my opinion- is a sign of respect. I hope you enjoy your visit :) and I do recommend going to places outside the capital also, as Estonia has a lot to offer. Don't forget your dictionary.
why is Estonia moving thestatue of the Red Armysoldier?
I though the Red Army drove the Nazis out of Estonia during WW2; so why would Estonia take away this monument? I might be missing some of the story or history, if so please let me know, i appreciate it. Thank You.
They probably took it down as an act of sovereignty saying they are not associated with the U.S.S.R anymore.
When do you think Estonia willbe considered a developedcountry?
When will it be? When estonia will also be considered a rich country with a strong economy? (Remember: When Ireland became an EU member, it was also poor and developed very quick as well as Estonia is doing!)
It already is. GDP per capita is greater than Portugal and close to South Korea. what has been really impressive is the rate of growth. As long as they continue to keep taxes low and provide a superior business climate, that growth trajectory should continue to be one of the higher ones in the world.
