Fortunately, they have about 20 words for trout to liven things up with. |

I recall reading something like that in a Farley Mowat book, so that's where I started. You don't say how old the film is or the circumstances, so this is a shot in the dark, as they say. The Snow Walker (2003) IMDb synopsis: In 1953, Arctic pilot Charlie Halliday (Barry Pepper) is very well-paid to change his flight plan and to deliver a local native with tuberculosis, Kanaalaq (Annabella Piugattuk), to a hospital for treatment. However, he crashes the plane, and they have to struggle for survival. Charlie learns with Kanaalaq how to survive in the cold region, forming a bond of respect and friendship with her. |

In North America there are 7 distinct tribes of "Eskimo". They are in no special order; Copper, Central, Labrador, Western, Caribou, Hare and MacKenzie. Given that you only want the word "snow", and that each has its own dialect or in cases language, there are 7 words for snow in the North American Eskimo language(s). Now, I know Greenland has a tribe, Finland-Sweden, and Siberia has many so good luck with this. |
