...Drum kit (also drum set or trap set) is a collection of drums, cymbals and sometimes other percussion instruments, such as cowbell, wood blocks, triangle, chimes, or tambourines, arranged for convenient playing by a single person (drummer). The term "drum kit" first became used in the 1700s in Britain. In the U.S., the terms "drum set", and "trap set" were more prevalent historically. Read full entry

What is a good beginning cheap I've been searching the
internet for a decent drum kit
for a while and realized that
a normal drum kit would be
extremely loud for the place
that I live in. So I wanted an
electric drum kit... I'm just
not sure what good brands
there are, and what would
designate a beginner electric
drum kit.
I know that you can add
samples to some pads too, and
was wondering if that was just
something you could do to any
set of drums. Anyway, thank
you ahead of time.

What is a good drum kit for a I have been drumming for about
a year and am taking to it
fairly well. My price range is
a bit limited. I am willing to
pay about $900-$1100. What is
a good drum kit in my range. I
want to stick to the well
known brands such as pearl or
yamaha.

I would recommend looking into Gretsch and DDrum. I own both brands, and both sounds great. They both have really well priced intermediate sets. If you ever want to upgrade the sound of them, just get some better heads. The heads affect about 80% of the sound. For cymbals, take a look at Sabian XS20's. Try them out at a music store. They're great for their price. Very affordable. You can also look at PDP hardware. They're VERY affordable, and high quality. This should be a decent starting point, and is just what I'd recommend. Good luck. |

How do I get my electronic I use a Yamaha DD-65, mainly
because I couldn't get a real
drum kit, and I am annoyed by
the fact that the drums aren't
loud enough, as I can still
hear the sound of my drum
sticks hitting the pads. Any
Ideas how I can get rid of, or
play over this sound?

are you listening to it through headphones? If so then you could get a set that blocks out sounds from elsewhere like a good set of Dj headphones. If not you could play it through an amplifier like a guitar or bass one the advantage of doing this is that you can also plug headphones into the output and run them as loud as you like. |
