What makes December 21 2012more popular than otherpredicted world ending dates?
Everybody talks about December 21 2012 being the end of the world. There were other predictions, weren't there? So what makes Dec 21 get all this hype?
Mostly the internet. One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or 7057.5 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. This is not a prediction of the end of the world. These predictions are scare tactics, conspiracy theories, and chances to make money from books and movies. Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else. "But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33) Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready. The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns. The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus' advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren. Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time. Do you believe the world isgoing to end December 21, 2012what is going to happen?
I do not normally buy into this kind of stuff, but this date has been predicted by many people and things. The bible code, The mayans, The wizard Merlin, The I Ching, and many others have predicted the year 2012 would be the end of the world. Not to mention that all of these people and things have been very accurate through out history, and bible code actually predicted the assassination of the prime minister of israel before it even happened now that can't be a coincidence. The Mayans predicted December 21, 2012 which is very weird because on that day the earth completes it's 26,000 year wobble and our sun aligns with the plane of the Milky Way and I think there are some other things that happen on that date also I just can't recall everything. Anyway what do you think about it the end of the world predictions do you have any additional significant info just curious what everyone thinks about all this
i hope it ends sooner so i stop hearing about it!
Why do we have winter solsticesometimes on December 21 or22?
I was curious that I was wonder that date at every year. Every on winter begins on December 21 at sometimes 22 why don't have same date?
I believe it has to do with where we are in the leap year cycle. If we are in the first 2 years after the leap year, then the solstice is on the 21st, if we are in the third or fourth year, then the solstice occurs on the 22nd. The solstice is the shortest day of the year, and occurs when the sun is directly over the Tropic of Capricorn.
