What makes go go dancingdifferent from other types ofdance?
When you see a go go dancer on a pedastal dancing, you can immediately distinguish that type of dancing from other types. So, what is it about go go dancing that gives it that "go go" feel? Is it the quick, angular movements? Although, I'm new to dance and don't have the vocabulary to accurately discuss dance, I'd really like to know what makes go go dancing so unique. Thanks.
Go-Go dancers were originally 1960s-era miniskirted clubgoers, dancing at clubs such as the Whisky a Go Go (one of the first to have dancers in elevated cages), wearing go-go boots. The etymology of Go-Go may be the noun go, one of whose meanings is "power of going, energy, vigor". Or it may come from the names of the nightclubs, which ultimately come from the French à gogo, meaning "in abundance, galore".
What kinds of dances are goodto know for a high schoolhomecoming dance?
Hi, I am a 16 year old guy who plans to attend my first high school dance this year, just so happens to be the homecoming dance. That being said, I am very much a novice at dancing, having a handful of youth rallies and concerts as my only experience (these mainly consisting of mosh pit type "dancing" and messing around). In my arsenal I have a basic understanding of slow dancing, two step, and grinding, but like I said not much experience actually using any of these. I will be attending the homecoming dance with a girl, so I will have a partner. Basically what I am asking is, what types of dances are suitable and good to know for such an occasion and accessible to someone of my experience? What dances are good for rock music, hip hop, etc; freestyle, with partner? Any explanations, tips, and pointers you can offer are very much appreciated.Thank you!
