Nonetheless a substantial part of the UK population still lives in council housing. Council house.?
As the council give you a
payment to downsize your house
i wondered if they give you
anything to hand back your
council house. I know they
give you a deposit to put on a
house in the UK but i want to
live abroad.
The reason i was thinking
about giving up my council
house is that my daughter has
moved to Cyprus and wants us
to follow her and we dont have
the means to buy our own
property.The council help you
to buy a house on the open
market in the UK or you can
buy the house you live in at a
discount.

I wouldn't have thought so. You can only get the money to downsize from a house to a flat with less bedrooms. My uncle is in a 2 bedroom house but because he wants a flat with 2 bedrooms they have told him he isn't entitled to the cash. He's steaming mad about it, so I can't see them giving you any money to take away from their purview. |

How can i get council or I am in an abusive
relationship mental and
physical abuse. I have no
money i lost contact with
family and friends a few years
ago and so desperately want to
get me and my daughter out of
this bad situation. I have no
where to go and wondered if i
am likely to get a council
house quite quick within a few
months maybe if i apply from
my current situation? I have
no where else i can go. What
is my likely hood of getting a
council house or help from
them to help me out of this
situation and back on my feet.

call your local womens aid helpline, they can offer you a safe place to stay while you get rehoused, they will also help you with finding out what support your entitled to....financial as well as emotional help. the length of time to be rehoused varies according to your area & situation....in my case i was offered a house after 6wks at the refuge, although it can take longer depending on a suitable house being available |

there is nothing wrong in living in a council house, i think people get the wrong idea of the sort of people that live in them by bad press. unfortunatly the typical impression of a council house is people living on a rough council estate but usually the majority of people that live in them are hard working down to earth honest people (as your parents sound) i think that its just the sad few rough familys that live in them have spoiled the whole outlook on council houses alltogether. |
