magic consecration is the process of charging an object with magical or spiritual energies which can transform it into a working tool or to empower it to perform some specific work in magic. The object is usually sprinkled with salt or salted water blessed with the smoke of incense and anointed with a special oil. witchtalismans http://www.witchtalismans.com/ 6806/index.html |

How did the consecration If a person was required to
sactify themselves (such as in
Joshua 3:5), what did they
need to do? What was
forbidden? How long did it
last?
Any pointers on this would be
helpful.

In general, the term used in Hebrew can mean either to consecrate, which would imply some sort of religious act, or simply to prepare, which would imply some non-religious act such as packing one's belongings. The religious act of consecration often involved immersing in a ritual bath. Depending on the context it could also involve refraining from sexual relations for a number of days (when the Torah was given there was an explicit command to refrain for 3 days). It could also involve a seven day process of purification after coming into contact with a dead body. |
