Questions/Answers
conception?
i'm trying to figure this one out. i've been thru sex ed, but obviously didn't pay attention. my husband and i are trying, well sort of, we're on the verge of being deployed, so if it happens then great! n e ways, this is my question, i've read into alot of the conception tips and whatnot, and i always get confused on this. i have a regular 28 day cycle, but on the 14th day when i ovulate, is that the best day to have sex? some say once ovulation hits u've missed u're chance, and others say that's the best time. i would think it's the best time considering the egg is actually released and the sperm don't just "hang out" waiting. can someone clear this up for me? thanks!
Your most fertile time are the following three days: 24-48 hours BEFORE you ovulate and up to 24 hours AFTER you ovulate. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
How are conception dates andmenstrual cycles related?
My girlfriend is pregnant and the doctor gave us a conception date of September 3rd using the first day of her last period, this is assuming she has an average 28 day cycle correct? Well, she has a 30 day cycle which I guess is not common. Wouldn't this move the conception date up a few days? I've used some online conception date calculators and when I change the cycle to a 30 day cycle it changes the conception date to September 5th? Why is that and whats the relation between conception dates and the number of days in a cycle? Any opinions or facts would be greatly appreciated.
Dr's do go by a 28 day cycle to get an approximate due date... if you know that your girl has a 30 day cycle (which by the way, is a very common cycle length) then just assume that you concieved 2 days later that what the dr. is guessing. Being babies usually come sometime around the due date.. both of your guesses will be pretty accurate but your may be a better educated guess. The reason your cycle length matters is a women typically ovulates 14 days BEFORE her expected period... this is when conception can occur. About mid-cycle. But after you concieve, the two weeks prior to conception (starting from when the last period started) are counted as weeks of pregnancy... kinda strange i know, but by doing this, they are more accurate when guessing a due date. Make sense?
