What are there any instances I believe Ron Paul stated that
the root cause of racism,
sexism and other
discriminatory practices is
based on judging people based
on a common characteristic
that they share. All this is
negative but are there any
times when collectivism is
good?

i guess the thing with there is safety in numbers...collectively u have a better chance of survival and support with a larger number of people( eveidenced by family units at the dawn of the human being). It is when individuals inside the group infect (for the lack of a better word) it with anger and fear that collectivism becomes negative. |

Collectivism?
What laws of today are
collectivist?

Any laws that favor a group, as opposed to addressing individuals. I suppose Affirmative Action, Hate "Thought" Crimes legislation, stuff like that. |

It depends on the type of collectivism. In terms of production and most social activities, collectivism gives us a far better chance of succeeding. In factual terms - as opposed to romantic mythology - even falling in love is based on "judging people on a common characteristic that is shared collectively". And hospitals built by collective endeavour usually have a better success rate than solitary barefoot healers. Deep down, we actually like one another! |
