Whats the difference betweenthe Cerebrum and the CerebralCortex?
What I have so far is that the cerebrum is the front of the brain but then if thats the case what exactly is the Cerbral Cortex? The cerebral cortex has white and grey matter but where is it physically located? My understanding is that it is located in the cerebrum too? That's where I'm confused.
The cerebrum is the upper layer of the brain. The cortex is its corrugated surface.
In the event of injury to thecerebrum, what would a personbe unable to do?
I was reading about the brain (cerebrum) and it's very interesting. What other part of the brain or body are affected by an injury or dysfunction to the cerebrum? And can you rehabilitated?
As you know, the cerebrum (also known as the cerebral cortex) is a very complex structure. Because it is so complex, different areas of it control behaviors, movements, language, cognitive functions, speech, and vision; it makes it impossible to generalize about what happens after an injury for that very reason. Rehabilitation potential depends on the severity and type of the injury and the site of the lesion. Patient motivation and the involvement of the patient's family/significant others are huge factors in the prognosis.
What are two other ways youcould divide the cerebrum?
One way to think about dividing up the cerebrum is the four lobes: frontal, temporal, parietal, and occipita.
well you have the four lobes like the other person mentioned. You also have the right and left halves, right dealing with creative thought, and left with analytcal thought. you could divide it by front and back halves, one (i believe the front) is more related to motor skills, while the back is used for sensory an memory.
