What is Wicca? What is Celtic Sorry for three in one, but I

They are definitely different. "Celtic Paganism" could describe any faith influenced by ancient Celtic culture. It often refers to reconstructionists, who work within one culture (Celtic, or often a celtic subgroup) and strive for as much authenticity as possible. Wicca is a modern religion influenced by a wide variety of sources. There's a little bit of Celtic belief thrown in, but it's pretty limited. For example, Wiccans celebrate four Celtic holidays by name, but the Celtic and Wiccan meanings of these holidays diverge considerably. Many people used to claim that Wicca was ancient Celtic religion, but they were wrong. It's neither ancient nor Celtic. |
