What happens to ingestedcellulose in humans?
Could someone tell me what happens when humans ingest cellulose? Where does it go; what does the body do with it? What exactly is cellulose? Thanks.
Cellulose is commonly observed in woody plants (basically its the smallest building blocks above cells in a tree). Ingested, it's harmless to humans, but it is very tough stuff. It doesn't digest well. What does break down in the acids in a human stomach should break into sugars and be absorbed into the blood stream. Most would pass through as waste.
