Questions/Answers
In taxonomy, different classesof organisms might be groupedinto the next larger category,a _______?
??????
the groupings are refered to as 'taxa', and they are: kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species
In Taxonomy, on what basis isan organism placed in aparticular category??
organisms are placed into the various taxonic groups based upon the similarities they share with the organisms contained within that group. the higher the group(kingdom, phyla, class) the less alike the organims are contained within that group. the closer youy get to the end of the taxonomic system (order, family genus and lastly species) the more similar the organims are to one another(and the fewer in number!!) until you finally get down to the individualized species classification taxon which separates the organism from all others on this planet.
Why are some religious peopleoffended by the fact thathumans fall into the primatecategory?
Should our taxonomy be based on different characteristics?
As a catholic, I do not feel offended, the reason'...I love all animals. its not the genetics I have problems with. Remember the soul is a complete separate entity from the body
