There is no best place. Insurance companies target market certain groups of people and give them their best rates. Groupings are based on prior insurance coverage, age, gender, credit rating, driving record, marriage status and even occupation. Your best source would be your local independent insurance agent. He/she knows who writes which group at what price. Also, your agent can advise you on how to obtain the best quotes not just now, but also in six months. You may need some grooming. |

When asked to give name and Do they send you information?
Because my parents currently
pay for my car insurance but I
want to get some insurance
quotes before I move out of
the house (which they don't
know about). I also don't want
junk mail...

that depends if the source is trustworthy. |

When getting a car insurance I had a speeding ticket, but
the judge lowered my citation
to 99mph so I could take
traffic school.
I am getting an insurance
quote from progressive.com and
they want me to provide
information on tickets I've
received in the last 3 years.
Do I tell them about my
speeding ticket, since traffic
school is supposed to prevent
a point from being added to my
driving record?
I've already finished my
traffic school and I live in
California.

Yes, or you are in breach of contract, and possibly fraudulent, though you have taken nothing, but a cut in insurance. Time limits apply, usually 3 years, but you would probably know how long based on company's application. Surprisingly, they already might have this info through an interface or link with police, though I doubt it. Info is definitely available on your claims, sometimes erroneously! |
