Capitalization?
Does anything in this sentence need capitalization? Each fall aunt Rosa plans a trip to a garden center to select the year's daffodil bulbs. There is supposed to be either one word that needs capitalization or none. Could it be "aunt"? Or "fall"? Thanks!
The one you capitalize is "Aunt" because it is part of her title. If you wrote, I am going over my aunt's house, you would not capitalize "aunt" because it is not referring to a specific person. Assume there is a neighbor whose last name is Rosa. You would capitalize Mr. if you wrote, I am going over Mr. Rosa's house. I hope this makes it clearer. WRT to capitalizing "fall", it is not capitalized. The word "autumn" is equivlalent and it is also not capitalized. Very often if you can substitute an equivalent word that will give a big hint as to whether the word is capitalized or not.
How do I turn off theautomatic capitalizationfeature on my computer?
I want my computer to stop capitalizing every new line. It thinks it knows best about what needs to be capitalized, but it is making a lot of errors, and I'm spending a lot of time going back and undoing its idea of helpful editing. How can I stop this capitalization-crazed monster?
Assuming you're talking about MS Word, try this: 1. Click on the Tools->Autocorrect Options menu item. 2. If it isn't already selected, select the Autocorrect Tab. 3. Deselect Capitalize First Letter of Sentences. 4. Click OK.
