What color puppies will a bufffemale and chocolate malecocker spaniel have?
I am looking to buy a puppy cocker spaniel for my husband. I wanted to buy one from a local AKC breeder in town, but their next litter has a chocolate male and buff female. My husband is wanting a parti or tri colored male. My question is, is it possible for them to have puppies that aren't solid colors?

Depends on the colors behind them. I know that Chocolate is recessive...do you know what colors the chocolate dog's parents were? I believe that Buff is also recessive (based on what I'm seeing here: http://www.cockerspanielinform ation.com/colors/buff/ Given the fact that both dogs are recessive colors, and non-spotting is a dominant gene, I doubt they would produce any parti-colors. But...again...it depends on the colors in their pedigree. Have you asked the breeder? They should know their pedigrees well enough to answer. If they don't, you don't want to buy from them. Cockers are prone to eye problems, as well - be sure this breeder has conducted CERF exams on both dogs.
