how to cook brussel sprouts toget the bitterness out?
I would love brussel sprouts if it wasn't for the bitterness, anything I can do to them to get that out?
Well this is how I cook them and my husband LOVES them! I buy the frozen ones. I put the entire bag into a pot with about a cup of water and some salt and pepper. cook on low until simmering (about 15 minutes) then empty the water out and add 2 tbsp of butter and salt & pepper again. simmer until the butter melts and WALLA! They are de-lish! Good luck!
How do you grow brusselsprouts?
A couple months ago, I bought some brussel sprout plants and put them in large containers. So far they are growing wonderfully well, but I have yet to see any signs of the baby cabbages. Is there anything I need to do such as pinch of bottom leaves? Maybe I am just trying to hurry them along,, how long does it take before them to make their sprouts? Thanks for any help.
Brussels Sprouts are a cool weather plant. They take a long time (a few months) to start sprouting. They will first get small bumps on the long stalks, then watch out! The bumps keep growing! The good thing about these plants is that you can continuously harvest them as they grow. Just remove the largest of the sprouts. They will require staking when they start bearing because they tend to get very top-heavy. Enjoy!
