I just had an operation on October 17/2005.I had a cyst(tumor) in my ear canal millimetres from my brain. I did not know that i had it there, had alot of earaches all the time in there. My family doc just gave me drops all the time, and than he finally sent me to a surgeon and he had me go to do a CAT scan. There it was.If you are dizzy, it felt like i was having trails when i looked too fast, can't keep balance, i did get sick sometimes at nite, hard to concentrate. My surgeion told me about this guy who came in the hospital and died 36 hours after that cause it burst and that causes meningitis. He didn't know that he had it. I would advise to get it out. There was alot of risks, but i would deal with that instead of dying like that and i am fine the surgery was a success.Do not wait. Mine wasn't cancerous at all. I did lose 2/3 bones in my ear so i can't hear well out of the one, as the cyst broke them unrepairable. But i am alive and well so far.Just do it and get it looked at. |

Is a MRI or CT scan better in A few years ago my son was
diagnosed with a brian cyst. A
MRI scan detected this cyst.
Last year he had a CT scan but
the radiologist no longer saw
the cyst. He is now seeing a
neurologist and she has
ordered another MRI. I want to
know if there could be a
chance that the CT scan did
not detect the cyst and also
if a MRI is better at picking
up brain cyst than an CT scan?

an MRI scan is usually more likely to be used in this cause, but often a CT can pick cysts up also, it will all depend what is available within the hospital where you would be getting the treatment or tests. |

I was diagnosed with a brain This is an arachnoid cyst in
my left frontal lobe. My Dr.
was brief about it. I do have
an MRI scheduled for the end
of the month.
Could it reveal anything else
about it beyond what the CT
scan revealed? Should I really
be worried about it causing
any problems beyond the
headaches and nausea I already
experience from time to time?
Do they grow?

I really hope everything is ok. I searcged google for your answer about the dangers of your arachnoid cyst , what seemed like forever. Here is the best information I could find for you. http://209.85.165.104/search?q =cache:ARLLzjOKXtcJ:www.abta.o rg/sitefiles/sitePages/4F77F57 A14D6EBBE5C3FBC447B78FD57.pdf+ information+on+brain+cysts&hl= en&ct=clnk&cd=3&gl=us As far as mri's and ct scans. Mri is a much more detailed (literally) scan. It shows much higher resolution picrures. source: own knowledge, about cts and mris. I am no medical expert. This is a link I found ONLY. Please talk to your doctor about any further info about this link. Or any questions in general. Also, Please let me know how everything turns out. I truly do care. E-mail me, or write something here in YA. |
