barranquilla in the summer so
i need to know what they
mainly ride so i dont look
like an outsider.i also need
to find a cheep hotel.i also

of mountains or if its

Mostly they ride 100 - 125CC motorcycles. Its a beach, so it has no mountains very close. Id go there and watch what the locals wear and buy that, but costenos are generally dark complected and if you are as white as rice, no matter how much you tan and unless you Spanish is flawless - costenos have an accent diff. from, say, Bogotenos- you will still be pegged as an outsider. That being said, for the most part no one will care if you are respectful. Dont be a moron and flash a lot of cash. Bring a credit card and use that when you can with that youll get the most favorable exchange rates. Also bring a debit card for cash. Barranquilla is ok. If I were you Id get on the bus and go to Santa Marta and Cartagena. Both are prettier and have more stuff to see. |

No. It is a well-known fact that they are all very suspicious, and almost all of them own and carry a weapon. It is actually almost impossible to approach them if you are of the opposite sex. I know because I have a friend who lives there so I have spent many months there. |

The short Answer is None. It is not true that Barranquilla is not on the ocean, but I would totally reccomend Santa Marta over Barranqulla. Also get something with a LOT of deet because not only will the mosquitoes bite. but there are tons of zancudos. (I have no idea what they are called in English) |
