Congrats!!! Yes you should go. IMTA is one of the BIGGEST acting conventions besides iPOP and iPAC. It is not a scam, nor is iPOP, or iPAC. Most of the time you do end up signing with an agent. I am actually going to something like this summer called iPOP (International Presentation of Performers). It is a great opportunity. But beware that it is $3,452 dollars ( and iPOP is $7,000 ). Here is a list of just SOME of the agencies going to IMTA: Whilimenia Models AKA Talent Abrams Artist KSA April Mills |

Does anyone Know how Many kids I auditioned for IMTA,
(International Modeling and
Talent Association) Modeling
and Acting and they accepted
me, but according to them,
most of the kids who got
Accepted gets contracts from
Agents and Managers. They
explained from last year only
two kids did not get
contracts.
My question is,
1.) Does anyone Know how many
people geta Accepted to the
IMTA? How many kids would be
attending this years IMTA LA,
2009?
2.) Also, is IMTA a
competition or just a show for
the Agents and Managers?
Thank You So Much!

Everyone gets accepted, as long as they can pay to go. Sure, everyone "signs" with an agent, but for the most part, they're not legit agents. There are a lot of scam agencies out there, just waiting to prey on your hopes and dreams. The markers of a scam agency are: - they ask for money up front to sign you up, or to audition - they ask or require you to take their acting classes or attend "events" or conferences - they require you to have head shots taken by their in-house photographer These types of agencies make their money by signing people up and selling classes. They are not really in the business of getting work for their clients. Legitimate agencies work on commission only (usually 15%). Legit agencies don't offer classes, have photographers, or charge up-front fees. Then, enlist the help of your parents. You will need their support to get you to auditions, and to protect your rights on set. Do some research at the websites for Screen Actors' Guild https://www.sag.org/home ACTRA Toronto http://www.actratoronto.com/ IMTA and other such "scouting" outfits have almost nothing to do with getting real roles. I don't know much about the modeling end of things, but I'm pretty sure it's a similar situation. |
