In the 2nd century BCE did theRomans want to annex AsiaMinor and Greece? Why? Why didRome conquer?
I am struggling with these questions for my western civ class and any help I could get would be much appreciated!! Thanks!
The Romans became involved in Asia Minor to protect her provinces in the Balkans. The Hellenistic monarchs such as Antiochus of Syria had invaded unsuccessfully the Greek peninsula to drive the Romans out. Technically speaking the Romans did not invade Asia Minor, the kingdom of Pergamum was left to them in the last king's will.
