Questions/Answers
How is Arab culture differentfrom that of the UnitedStates?
For example, I always get the impression that Arab culture holds machismo and a sense of pride in much higher esteem than US culture does. What about Arab views on technology? Is it not valued as highly as it is in the US? Is it safe to say that Arabs, on average, are more religious than people in the US? I am not interested in stereotypes and the mistake of spreading a cultural trait to every single member of the Arab world. I am also not interested in the subjective and often one-sided value judgements that can be placed on these cultural differences--just what are the average differences between two cultures.
Arabs are more religious than Americans , Muslims and Christians ( and don't get me wrong religious doesn't mean extremists ) But arabs don't have issues with womens rights as some people might think . If you check the statistics you'll find that in America the violence against women is much more than that in the Arab world . Arabs treat their mothers , sisters and wives as preicious jewels and if a man hits a women he'd be looked at as a coward , the cases of looking down at women in the Arab world are exceptions now they are much open-minded than before . Correction for 17hunter , slavery has completely disappeared from Arabia long time ago . Also Arab Families are much attached together than American families , and arab guy or girl would continue to live with their parents till they get married and have a house of their own . Arabs also believe in the freedom of speech but with limits .
Are any colours consideredoffensive in the Arab culture?
I am currently working on a design project in Doha and I am trying to decide on a colour scheme./palette. Are there any colours considered offensive in Arab culture? Are there colours I should avoid?
No. Feel free to use any colours you want
Can Arab culture change enoughto compete in the modernworld?
Arab culture looks upon manual labor as beneath them. Arab culture disdains long-term planning and scientific research. Arab culture is prone to hyperbole and exagerration. Can the culture change so that Arabs may regain honor among civilized advanced nations or shall it be content to brag and then do nothing to advance?
What a bunch of hogwash. "Arab culture" -- what's that? Palestinian Arab culture? Saudi Arabian Arab culture? Lebanese Christian culture? Muslim Arab culture? It sounds to me like you've met maybe one or two Arabs in your life and your basing your conclusions about a huge swathe of people based on that and a handful of stereotypes. The major problem with most Arab cultures is this: the current politics and economics. Change the political and economic situation so that there is not such a dichotomy between the rich and the poor, and "Arab culture" will flourish.
