Aphrodite?
What are three different things/events that Aphrodite did for other gods?
When Hera and Athena asked her to help Jason, she sent her son Eros (cupid) to strike Madea with his arrow. She instantly fell in love with Jason and helped him complete his quest.
How do I dress up likeaphrodite, and my friend likehera?
We need to make costumes of the greek goddesses Aphrodite and Hera. I know that most of their pictures are nude, but this is for school, so seriously. What kinds of things should we buy for the costumes?
get gold braided rope and make a toga like costume where one shoulder is bare, wrap the gold braid around your waist like a belt, if you can fin those sandals that kind of look like gladiator but are a little more feminine, make sure your hair is down, preferably curled, also if you could get gold arm bands that would be a nice touch, although for hera you could do the same thing, but maybe make her toga deep red or something, she was a hateful woman also aphrodite was very vain so try and look like that if you can. I know it seems like a lot of work but honestly that would probably be your best bet, also could be the best costume at your school.
What is the meaning of thesong about Ares and Aphroditein book 8 of the Odyssey?
In Odyssey, Book 8, just after the athletic contests, the bard Demodocus plays on his lyre the song, "The Love of Ares and Aphrodite Crowned with Flowers" (page 200, lines 300ff.). What is the meaning of this song at this particular place and time in the narrative? What relationship does it bear to the games that have just preceded it?
This is clearly a HOMEWORK question, so I won’t answer it completely for you. Demodokos actually sings three songs if you read Odyssey 8 carefully. The song involving Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaistos, (and don’t forget Apollo and Hermes who comment on it also) is the center song, and in Homer the centerpiece of three takes on added importance. But if you consider the situation between Odysseus and Nausikaa, and remember that Odysseus is married to Penelope, and consider her resisting the 108 suitors camped out for three years in her house, the illicit relationship between Ares and Aphrodite might just suggest something to you. Think also about the relationship between Nausikaa’s parents, Alkinoos and Arete. Many ancient commentators on Homer thought the story (like your other responder here) was bawdy. Okay, so it is. But it teaches a lesson about adultery. Think about the story. Is Homer for or against adultery, and is there a message for Odysseus himself? Is he suggesting that Odysseus should marry the local princess Nausikaa, or not. All of this should be quite clear if you read book eight carefully.
