What do you pay for in a I am graduating next year, and
I want to know what is a
reasonable price for me and my
roommate to pay for rent, and
also the other stuff you have
to pay in an apartment vs a
regular small house or
trailer. Can anybody make me
two lists of all you have to
pay in either enviorment?
Thank you!

We were renting at 550.00 a month. We bought a place and now pay only 100.00 more. We have a much nicer place and it is our own. It really depends on WHERE you plan to live on how much your rent will be. When it comes to bills there is no difference except they might be a bit higher in a house. You will have: Rent, groceries, electricity, heat, garbage, water, cable, phone, etc. I hope you both have a job. Good Luck to you both = ) |

How do I ask for an apartment I've been letting my apartment
for a year. The rent prices
have dropped in my town lately
(recession), so I want to put
in writing a letter to my
landlord asking for a rent
reduction - what should I say
and not say?

Write a simple note explaining you will be moving because rents are less in other places. Say that you would be happy to stay if they can meet the market rate but otherwise you will have to leave at the end of your lease. |

How many months upfront should I rent an apartment in Texas.
How many months upfront should
I offer to pay to get a
reasonable discount on rent?
What percentage should I ask
for?

While you can haggle at a garage sale or a flea market, trying to do it with your landlord is just tacky AND unless you're in an area where the rental market is terribly depressed, it will get you nowhere. If you want to do it, just ask your landlord or property manager if they discount rent if it's paid in advance, and if so, by how much, rather than trying to talk them down. |
