How to go to Antioch,IL from I need to go to Antioch, IL
from O'hare airport over the
weekend. But I just found out
that the Metra North Central
route does not operate on
weekend. Are there any
suggestions on how I can go to
Antioch, IL using public
transportation? Thanks!

You're right...no weekend service. Pace buses don't go to Antioch either. The closest weekend route will get you to Fox Lake. After that it's a cab ride to Antioch....8.07 mi. on rt 59. Blueline to Montrose Ave...a 1/2 block walk to the Metra Mayfair station. then METRA MILWAUKEE DISTRICT NORTH LINE to Fox Lake....$ 8.35 total. Go to the following site for exact route. In the START section pull down O'Hare airport. In the END section type in Fox Lake Metra. Make sure you enter the correct date and time: http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com / |

What are good things and bad I am thinking about buying a
home in Antioch,ca.The prices
are right and the houses are
huge.I am looking in the new
side of Antioch.I am wondering
about the schools(elementary
thru high school) I'd like to
know pros and cons to be able

decision.Please be blunt.

Blunt. The schools are awful and there is serious gang problems, especially at that high school on Lone Tree (forgot the name of the school). Shooting are common at the movie theater, it is very dangerous to be there after dark. If you want that area move to Brentwood (good schools, no gangs, but increasing section 8 housing), or Oakley (good schools, quiet life, no new sub-divisions). Ron Nunn Elementary in Brentwood is exceptional as is Edna Hill Jr. High. Just stay out of Antioch, it is a terrible pit, that is why the houses are cheap, decent people won't live there. |

July and I need to get from
Weed California to Antioch
california. I'm 21 but I don't

greyhound bus would only take
me to vallejo and I don't know
how to get the rest of the way
to Antioch. Any ideas?

It appears that your best option will be via Amtrak. They offer a combined bus/train rate of $68.50 one way. Go to www.amtrak.com The tricky part is doing your search. When I searched from Weed to Antioch it wouldn't do it, but if you do a multi-city search going from Weed to Martinez, CA and then from Martinez, CA to Antioch, it will do it. Your connections are Weed - Sacramento - Martinez - Antioch. You ride the bus between Weed and Sacramento, and then get a train the rest of the way. It should take you 8 hours and 10 minutes of total travel time (including about a 1 hr layover in Martinez). |
