Questions/Answers
american english:?
I just asked a question about the difference between "to heart s.o." and "to love s.o." and I got very different answers. Someone says it s not a verb, someone says it s a verb, someone asks me if I m american, and someone even asked me if I take crazy pills! My question now is: how come whenever I ask questions about english words I got different answers? Does the american-english differ so much from one state to another? yes I do take crazy pills...satisfied? :-D I d have another slang expression for u honey:D...
The problem is the intellect of people. The Americanized version of the English language is filled with slang, and slang can vary greatly from location to location. And someone asking you if you take crazy pills is probably a teenager who has nothing better to do or an ignorant adult that doesn't know the difference between a verb and noun. "To love" love is a verb in this instance because it is the action of love. Good luck.

American/English.....?
Just being curious (not an arse)! As Im English i offen wonder what do americans really think about The English... Do we have any sterotypical mark about us? If I were to describe the average american in one word it would be loud....(not being rude but I think alot would). Or is there anything you guys cant STAND about us?? Please answer!! Cheers!
Well the average stereotype would be snooty uptight people with bad teeth. Obviously we know that those are just stereotypes, and not everyone is like that, so generally we don't purposely hold those things against you, or assume that that description automatically fits you just because you are English. But that's nothing compared to the average stereotypes about us......people think that if I'm from the U.S., I must be fat, lazy, stupid, ignorant, arrogant, etc, etc., when really I'm none of those things, and depending on where in the country you are, you might see very little of that. Sure, you could find plenty of people with those qualities (or lack there of) here, but of course the negative stereotypes are what you will hear/see more of, just like any other country. Yes, we are typically loud, and we know that. One thing we don't like is the way your media portrays us. Your media does not hesitate to bash us every chance they get, as it seems, and makes us out to be all "stereotypical Americans." That's just what I gathered from the couple of times that I've been to England. An example of this would be the show "Talking with Americans." But, all in all, we think you are good people with many of the same values and ideals as us, and we don't hate you unless given a good reason, just as you would do to us. It's more based on the individual person rather than just a broad generalization of your country. Maybe we see some things differently, but that's because we come from two different places. I'm glad that our countries are "friends" for the most part, and hopefully that won't ever change. Cheers!
