Questions/Answers
What's the difference betweenprecocial and altricial young?
Precocial birds are ready to go as soon as they hatch. Ducks, geese follow their mother and are fully developed to carry on. Altricial birds are born in an under developed form. They need food brought to them and protection from predators. Their nests are high up in the trees.
do red foxes have altricial orprecocial young ?
ALL Mammals have altricial babies. There is no such thing as a precocial baby Mammal, because all their young MUST have a parent to survive and CANNOT take care of themselves. All Mammals nurse their young (this is what makes them Mammals) and therefor need their mothers, not only for protection, but for milk.
what does it mean to bealtricial as a person.... notbirds...?
im a 20 year old female, and my psychologist says i am altricial... what does that mean?
First, if a doctor says something you don't understand, don't be afraid to ask them what they meant. In this case, I can only guess that it means you can't care for yourself yet. He or she might mean emotionally and not physically.
