...Allergy is a disorder of the immune system often also referred to as atopy. Allergic reactions occur to normally harmless environment substances known as allergens; these reactions are acquired, predictable, and rapid. Strictly, allergy is one of four forms of hypersensitivity and is called type I (or immediate) hypersensitivity. It is characterized by excessive activation of certain white blood cells called mast cells and basophils by a type of antibody known as IgE, resulting in an extreme inflammatory response. Common allergic reactions include eczema, hives, hay fever, asthma, food allergies, and reactions to the venom of stinging insects such as wasps and bees. Read full entry

allergy???
my pit has a white spot on his
skin(no hair) do you think
because of his food? im
feeding him natural choice...
or is it because of the
shampoo? i use to give him a
bath 3x a week... the vet said
use the johnson baby shampoo
then give him a bath 1x week.
should i change his food to I
AMS to see if his allergy to

Only try one thing at a time. I would do what the vet said first. 3x a week may be a bit excessive and you could be drying out his skin. The Johnson's baby shampoo is very mild and wont zap the moisture from his skin. Do this for a few weeks, keep him on the same food. If he gets better, then that was the problem. If he gets worse, try changing his food one at a time, leave him on the new food for one week straight and see how he is doing. If he continues to worsen, take him back to the vet, he may have a skin condition requiring a prescription. |

What foods should I avoid with I have been having allergies
to corn and tested positive on
my allergy test. I also tested
positive for grass. I am now
having allergy symptoms when I
eat oat meal and any other
products that contain oats.
What other foods may be
related to corn? I already
have a 4 page list of corn and
corn byproducts so I am
looking for other foods in the
corn/grass family.
Thanks for your help!

Hi. I suggest you visit the Yahoo Groups "foodallergynetwork". THere are a few ppl on there who are allergic to corn (I think one of them is named Donnie, I'm not sure.) but just join and post a message about needing info and they'll be glad to help you. I am gluten free, not corn free so I can't help you to much myself! Best of luck, Amy |

What is the best type of I have severely bad allergies.
I currently take Allegra 180mg
but I still get symptoms.
Allergens: Most grasses,
trees, cats, ragweed.
I take shots for my allergies
every 3 weeks currently.
And if my allergies are
irritated enough, I tend to go
into something like an
"allergy shock."
