Questions/Answers
Are Christians obligated toobey 1 Peter 3:15 when postingon Yahoo Answers?
"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15 New International Version.
What struck me about your question is the word obligated......just think of a world where we all WANTED to be gentle and respectful? I think this should be on everyones mind today as we continue to share our hearts. Thanks!
Romans 1:4 and 1 Peter 1:3 -What are these verses notingabout the resurrection?
Romans 1:4 - And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: 1 Peter 1:3 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Romans 1 v 4 - The Lord Jesus is marked out as the Son of God with power. The Holy Spirit, here called the Spirit of holiness, marked Jesus out at His baptism and throughout His miracle working ministry. The Saviour's mighty miracles performed in the power of the Holy Spirit, bore witness to the fact that He is the Son of God. When we read that He is declared to be the Son of God with power...by the resurrection from the dead, we naturally think of His own resurrection. But a literal reading here is "by resurrection of dead person's," so the apostle may also be thinking of Christ's raising of Jairus' daughter, the widow of Nain's son, and Lazarus. However, there is little question that it is the Lord's own resurrection that is primarily in view. 1 Peter 1 v 3 - It is by God's abundant mercy that we have been born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. God is the source of this salvation. His great mercy is its cause. The new birth is the nature of it. A living hope is its present reward. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the righteous basis of our salvation, as well as the foundation of our living hope. The resurrection is the Father's "Amen" to our Lord's cry. "It is finished"! Also that resurrection is a pledge that all who die in Christ will be raised from among the dead.
