Indoor Garden theme wedding I am planning a garden theme
wedding for July of 2009. I am
struggling because I am doing
an indoor wedding reception
and don't know a good way to
decorate and need some ideas.
I was thinking something like
bubble bowls filled with
flowers, but I'm concerned
that will be too plain... I
need ideas for center peices
and other decoration ideas as
well.

Start visiting your local craft stores now. Many of them will be having 'summer' items on clearance, such as feather butterflies, dragonflies and such. Stock up to include them in your decorating. You'll want to see if you can find places to either buy (if you think you can re-use it) or rent arches, the kind you'd find in a garden. Place them near the door, over the cake table as well. Same thing trellis' that you could either cover in silk ivy or have garlands made by your florist (pricey though). See if there is a way the venue would allow you to bring in a water feature to add ambiance. Use as many christmas white lights as you can throughout. Large lacy ferns will help fill empty spaces. For centerpieces I would use a tall vase with an arrangement on the top that 'drips' flowers and greenery. Put a battery operated tea light in the vase surrounded by glass marbles to give it a 'glow'. Use those butterflies and dragonflies throughout the entire venue. |

Ideas for asian themed wedding Having wedding at japanese
garden and dinner afterwards
at japanese restaurant.
What ideas do you have for
decorations that have an asian
feel. My wedding colors will
be mostly brown and green (a
fall version... not lime or
bright green) with pink
accents here and there.
Also, any good websites to
look at or shop on

I hear you! I am Korean, my husband is white. For our fall wedding, we wanted a wedding that had a slightly asian flair but not over the top. I had SUCH a hard time at first because all the typical wedding sites that have favors, decorations, etc had only over the top type of asian things - the bright red and black type. That's not our style plus our color was chocolate. If you email me & give me your email address, I'll be happy to email you pics of our wedding so you can see examples. We picked out gorgeous Chiyogami paper that had small pink flowers with brown accents. We used the paper to accent our invitations and programs. It was beautiful! Here is a site that has this kind of decorative paper: http://www.paperstudio.com/cat alog2.php?maincat=%20Decorativ e%20Paper You can also just do a yahoo search for Chiyogami paper. We lucked out on the florist we chose. She was not only a great florist but was into doing arts & crafts to compliment her stuff. She went to fabric stores and let me choose 2 fabrics that had asian feels then she sewed table runners for every table (for the reception) and throw pillows for the benches that were under the arbor where we were getting married. It was a gorgeous and personalized compliment. The centerpieces for the reception tables was a rectangular clear glass vase with river rock in them and lilies tied with matching ribbon (that went with our colors). There was a gorgeous arbor in the gardens where we got married. She tied beautiful red paper lanterns and strung tiny white lights under there - we had a 5:30pm wedding. We had a tent at our reception and under there, we strung white paper lanterns. Everything turned out beautifully!!!! For our wedding favors, we chose these tiny chinese take out boxes (frosted color). We took that same decorative paper and used it to wrap around the box and then used personalized stickers to hold it together. Inside the boxes, we had personalized fortune cookies that said things like "thank you for coming" and such. Everything was gorgeous - an asian feel without the tacky red and black colors. Here's the link for that: http://www.beau-coup.com/perso nalized-designer-labels.htm I chose the cherry blossom design. I only spent $500, which was all flowers. I had my wedding at a bed and breakfast so that we didn't need any decorations. The ceremony was in the garden which needed minimal decorations we had rose petals down the aisle and a floral arrangement in the water fountain. The reception was inside so it didn't need any decorations. |

Medieval Wedding Decorations? I've always dreamed of having
a medieval wedding. Well, upon
planning and looking at the
cost, my wedding has become
more and more traditional, so
now I'm looking to at least
add a little medieval flair!
Does anyone know of any
websites with ideas or
pictures? (I don't want it to
be completely historically
accurate....I love the things
out of movies like Tristan and
Isolde or Braveheart.) Thanks
guys!

My first thought was to go to a poster site there are tons on line. find some really appealing posters and drape fabric around th outside. Something like the unicorn tapestry in other wards art that might hang in a medieval castle. Also the one medieval we ding I went to we worked with a costume shop in town that made the bride and groom's clothes and the rest of the wedding party and guests rented them. The owner worked with alot of theater companies. Someone like that might be a good resource for props and have some great ideas too. Having fragrant herbs such as lavender, thyme rosemary on the floor( not on a carpet) or tables would be historically accurate. Think pennants and banners have a juggler dressed as a jester, a magician dressed like Merlin. If you want to go all out rent costumes for the serving staff. The reception I attended was a dinner served at the jousting tournament where everyone ate with their fingers from wooden trenchers. That may be a bit too historically accurate for a wedding though. |
