What are your suggestions for Today's travel has become very
hectic, and there are a lot of
complaints about service. What
are the things that a travel
assistant service would do in
an ideal world? What kinds of
services would they provide
and how could they make the
experience of planning travel
as easy and enjoyable as
possible?

Planning is the enjoyable part. The difficult/stressful part is the actual traveling. I would want a service that is available to help me if/when flights are canceled or delayed. Also, what about getting to a hotel and finding it's substandard? I would want someone who could quickly get me to a better place. |

France (roughly about a 2 hour
drive west along the coast
from Calais) for the kite
festival.
I will be travelling on my own
and the travel websites aren't
being very helpful as they are
either for train journeys
within the UK or just within
France. Please help someone!

Berck-sur-Mer doesn't seem to be served by railway, but nearby villages as Verton and Le Touquet/Etaples does. You'll need to use the Eurostar from London to France then do a minimum of two changes with local trains and/or buses. About the flight, I would like to know the plane type, the services they give especially for a long journey, and all kind of important information such as baggage limit etc. |

This all depends on whether the airlines are having seat sales, and where you are travelling to. You would most likely need to purchase the tickets a couple of months in advance. Start looking around for some prices now, that way you can get an idea on what the standard prices are, and you will know when a good deal comes out :) Flight Centre usually has the most competitive airfares out of Australia. Check out their website: http://www.flightcentre.com.au / You can also check http://www.onlinetravel.com.au / and see what they have to offer. Make sure that you understand the rules and restrictions of an airfare...something might be a couple of hundred dollars cheaper, but have a whole list of restrictions that may cause you problems down the road if you need to cancel and/or change your plans. You should also pay the extra money and purchase cancellation and trip interruption travel insurance :) |
