How travel time and cost If we have travel time and
travel cost, under what
conditions can they be
considered as substitues?
Under what conditions can they
be considered as complements?
Could you please give example
in transportation system?
Thanks.

When commuting to work people choose mode of transportation bases on a combination of time and cost, Public transportation or car pooling is cheaper than driving alone but takes more time, so people can substitute one for the other. Vacation travel requires time so the more time you have for vacations the more money you will spend on transportation for travel, so time and cost will act as compliments. |

I've been to Ecuador twice and traveled there extensively. If you travel smart and are aware of your surroundings, I don't believe it is dangerous. Of course, you have to be aware, especially of pick pocketers (and in Quito many young street children are the worst) so just make sure you keep your money and valuables close to you. I heard a few stories of people being held up, but all of those people were carrying too much (one for instance had 4 cell phone and 2 cameras). Someone mentioned blending in and not wearing anything too flashy, that is good advice. In the time I spent there (over 2 months) I did hear of one story that occurred on the Columbian-Ecuador border, where rebels boarded a bus and robbed the riders. This is not meant to scare you from traveling Ecuador, as all of my experiences were WONDERFUL! I just wanted to give you all of the info I had. Some things that would make your travels safer and easier: Be able to speak some Spanish Do not walk alone at night Travel by taxis at night (especially in the cities) Keep your valuables secure, but do not carry more than what is necessary Walk around with your head up and confidently Most of all, enjoy the beautiful place that is Ecuador, there are so many beautiful things to see and experience and Ecuadorians are such wonderful people. |

You must start with Xi'An, the first capital of China and one of the oldest civilizations in the world. Visit the terra cotta warriors as was mentioned above, but also don't forget to stop off at Banpo Neolithic Village (usually you can get these two as a package - they are both a good drive outside the city). Banpo village is an excavation and recreation of a 6000 year old village where you can still see the remains of huts and fire pits. You can see how the ancients fired kilns for pottery. It is really cool if you are interested in early humans. The city of Xi'An itself has many historical sites, like the city wall that you can bike around (14km trip, rent bike on top of wall) It is a really wide wall with guardhouses and replica weapons along the way. Also, there are signs that show you sites and tell you interesting tidbits along the way. I would recommend it. Also, don't miss the Bell Tower and Drum Tower, and the pagodas. The next most important place to stop is Beijing. You will want to chek out Tiananmen Square (just the size of it is amazing) before paying a fee and exploring the Forbidden City. This place is extensive, so do not think that you will only spend a couple hours and see it all. If you do only want to spend a few hours instead of all day, I would suggest getting a map and figuring out which buildings/parts you want to see first, then walk in a planned way. The architecture is amazing and if history is your interest, it might be useful to rent the audio guide. You will also want to see the Summer Palace and Temple of Heaven. Temple of Heaven is peaceful and very park-like, but make sure you get there early enough to see the sections you want before they start closing at 16:00. There is also a good museum in Beijing, but I did not get to see it. Oh, and i would also suggest the Great Wall - Mutianyu section has a cable car up and down. I would say that these are the two must-see cities in China for history, but if you have time and funds, you may want to think about seeing Nanjing (previous capital), and Shanghai (great museum here) with a day triip to Suzhou (old city on the Yangtze). Hope this helps and have fun travelling China! |

The tickets were issued with

You must apply for a new passport. They will not let you in unless all documents match. When you get married or divorce or have any kind of a name change, it must be on your passport. If not, you won't be allowed to enter. |

How can I buy travel vouchers I would like to buy travel
vouchers to give as a gift.
They would be for travel
originating in the UK - most
likely to European
destinations.
Ideally they could be redeamed
online and could be spent on
both air travel and hotels.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
I want to get the vouchers
from a UK based company or
website.

You can buy airline vouchers directly from the airline - most offer them on their website. Virgin Atlantic offers "Virgin Vouchers" in denominations of £5, £10, £20 and £50. They're sent out in a stylish wallet along with a list of all the places where they can be used. Here's the website w/ more info and where the vouchers can be used: http://www.thevirginvoucher.co .uk/info/where-can-i-spend-my- vouchers,28,AR.html |
