How much does lasik eyesurgery cost nowadays?
I've been wanting lasik eye surgery for a long while now coz I'm so sick of contacts and glasses. Is there monthly payments or payment in full? And will getting lasik get rid of astigmatism, or lazy eyes as well??
Mine was about $2K per eye. But it depends on the method of surgery, the extensiveness of corrective work needed, and the doctor you use. Most places have financing available. I think it can help astigmatism, but I don't know about lazy eye. Consultations are usually free of charge so be sure to visit a few doctors to find the one that's best for you. These are your eyes, you don't want to bargain shop, and the price is worth it.
What does the future hold forLASIK eye surgery?
I'm going to school to become a commercial pilot. Obviously my career depends on being able to see 20/20 with or without correction (I'm 20/200 without contacts, slight astigmatism). I'm 30 years now but have considered eye surgery my entire life. (even RK back in the day). Obviously technology has improved by leaps and bounds. When LASIK rolled out I thought how could it get better than this? My best friend is a MD and he told me to hold off for a few years (this was 4-5 years ago) and now we have custom wavefront LASIK. I have had friends who've had both done with excellent results. Now with wavefront LASIK advancements, what else is on the horizon??? Are some stellar new techniques currently being developed that will roll out in the next 4-5 years? My eye doctor is suggesting PRK. Night vision problems could also end my career. I've heard there is less chance of reduced night vision (halos /startbursts) with PRK. The NAVY only allows PRK surgery for their pilots.
You are right about the side effects. Thats whats stopping me from doing the procedure so far. There are a lot more but the main side effects are halos and dry eyes. I saw some more mentioned here http://lasereyesurgerytruth.co m/vision/latest/be-aware-of-th ese-laser-eye-surgery-complica tions-2.html

FDA it self is greed driven they cover optical industry up. man if i can find reports that FDA and optical industry are working together also over government department reports, i will sue them, i will not even care if i have to bring public unrest toward the optical industry. http://www.lasikdisaster.com/ http://www.myopia.org/ http://www.eyecollege.com/ http://www.central-fixation.co m/ http://www.preventmyopia.org/ http://www.cleareyesight.info/ http://web.singnet.com.sg/~han wen/nvifaq.htm government knows eyesight can be improved because they use it in the air force, so i don't know who else is playing the game, but once someone find more evidence, we will not give mercy to this fraud industry
how old are you supposed to beto have lasik eye surgery?
I am 15 yrs. Im turning 16 this september and i want lasik eye surgery. But i don't know if theres a age for it.
I had Lasik eye surgery done after wearing glasses for 16 years. It has been perfect for me. I have had no changes. Of course, as I age, I expect changes. I also co-manage refractive surgery and have seen hundreds of successful patients. It doesn't hurt, generally. There is a bit of pressure, but no real pain if you have LASIK. The PRK version (where no flap is cut) is a little more uncomfortable for the first few days following the procedure. I've seen several people who said they were in some pain, but healed just fine. I used to wear both glasses and contact lenses. I had LASIK done and it's the best decision I've ever made. I can see clearly, no squinting, no driving with glasses anymore. I can read road signs, see the individual leaves in the trees (they're not just a blurry mess anymore). It's also nice to be able to see what time it is when I wake up. The procedure is painless (although a bit uncomfortable) but takes less than 15 minutes. Highly recommended. Why do insurance companies notpay for Lasik Eye Surgery?
Seems like they want people to go through the rest of your life wearing eye glasses or contact lens. There doesn't seem to be any real cure of people with poor eye sight. Their eye sight will always get worse. Is poor eye sight a condition that is not treatable? All the eye doctor does is get a person stronger glasses over their life time. If Lasik Eye Surgery is close to a cure for poor eye sight why doesn't the insurance companies approve of it?
Because no insurance company is going to cover an elective procedure involving cutting into healthy tissue, for no reason save for cosmetics and saving time, at the risk of them having to spend another 10 years covering the treatments for when things go wrong.
