How long after a lasik surgery can I start lifting weights again?
I had lasik done 1 1/2 weeks ago and the surgeon told me that I shouldn't run or do weight lifting/ crunches for a month but he told me I can do jogging. Is this true? I need some opinions please.
I was told nothing strenuous or with any impact for a month, but that brisk walking was fine. I wouldn't take any risks - it's just not worth it. Your sight is precious. Incidentally, the foreign medical graduate comment was wildly unnecessary and somewhat racist. It seems that Aurael has not been capable of gaining a medical degree or a single vote towards a 'best answer.' Too bad.
How come the doctors who perform lasik surgery still wear glasses?
Someone said to me, "if lasik surgery is so effective, then how come the doctors doing it still wear glasses? Why don't they get it done too?" So now I am wondering the same thing.
Do some reading up on the possible complications associated with the surgery, and you can pretty much figure it out. Although it's not a high percentage, some folks experience halos and double vision afterwards. It also increases the likelyhood you will need bifocals later on. Opthamologists make their living using their eyes, and they aren't likely to take any chances with messing them up. It doesn't necessarily mean that it's not a good option for other folks, but it could end their careers- so they stick with glasses. It's not much different than a singer with a deviated septum electing not to have the nose job because it will change how their voice sounds. For you or I, that's not a big deal. But when you make your living as an opera star- well, that's a different story. You aren't going to do anything you don't absolutely have to do, because it could mean an end to your career. Opthamologists take pretty much the same view of lasik surgery.
How long after the Lasik surgery cna you wear contacts?
I had the Lasik surgery a few months ago and yeah, my vision is fine and I don't need to wear them for vision anymore but I want to wear color contacts once in a while. How long after the procedure can I wear them? I've heard from my doctor that if I wore contacts before the procedure I should be able to wear them again afterwards. My next appointment with him is in another 6 months so I'd like to know when I can wear them again from maybe people who've had experience with this.
Well, being that your cornea might be a different shape after lasik, I would call the doctor and tell him you want to wear non-corrective, (prescription...even without a correction these colored lenses are prescriptive!) lenses for color. They might need to re fit you for sizes and see what ones are best for you and their availability. Do not go by what people in here tell you, their answer might not be what is right for you!
What should I take into consideration when looking for a lasik eye surgeon?
If I want lasik surgery, how do I find the most reputable DR? Do insurance companies cover any of it? I'm trying to sort all this out, I've been considering it. I don't want to pay too much, but I don't want to pay to little at the expense of my eyes. What should I be looking for?
Depending where you live a good surgeon costs about $3,000 and up depending on what your prescription is. I would ask how long they have been doing Laisk and how many procedures they have done, and how many they do weekly or monthly. Moist insurances do not cover lasik, they might pay a couple hundred dollars. The best way to find out if a surgeon is good at lasik is by word of mouth. A nationwide clinic like TLC is a good bet. I know they hire well qualified surgeons and do tons of lasik weekly.
How long does it take to get good vision after Lasik when you have a LOT of astimatism?
Yesterday morning I had Lasik in my right eye and PKR in my left eye. A day and a half later I my Lasik eye is still blurry. The doctor said it's somewhat normal because I had a strong astimatism and very poor sight to begin with. Should I be worried? How much time should I give it before I worry?
the dr's that i talked to said they had vision right after the surgury, and the next day. They are eye doctors that had it done. I had surgury not lasik but a stigmatism correction and was blurry for a bit maybe a week. now ok but get blurry at times. and that is years later.
